Consulting Winemaker Santiago Achával

Consulting Winemaker
Santiago Achával

Santiago Achával fell in love with wines and winemaking after frequently visiting the Napa Valley while receiving his MBA from Stanford. Today, he is consistently recognized as one of the world leaders in winemaking by Wine Spectator and Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.

Achával-Ferrer, his former winery in Mendoza, boasts four of the five highest rated wines in Argentine history, as judged by Wine Spectator, and the highest rated Argentine wine to date according to Robert Parker.

Matervini is the new wine adventure of Santiago Achával and Robert Cipresso. To the question “What comes after Malbec?” His answer is unequivocally “More Malbec!”. This venture shows how very different wines from completely different terroirs can be born from the same grape variety.

As The Vines of Mendoza’s Consulting Winemaker, Achával’s office is a tasting room filled with wine samples and bottles awaiting his critical palate. A discussion with him imparts decades of wine expertise, allowing Nunum Wines to benefit from his hands on experience and decades of expertise, from grape-picking through wine production to bottling.
